Recycling

Saturday, December 02, 2006

Canadian's are real green-loving, tree-hugging, raccoon-saving people.

Here, everything get's recycled. Blue rubbish bags = recycleable stuff only. But at my apartment, it's ridiculous. There are like ten bins, each for their own type of recycleable material, which is all fine 'n dandy... but where the hell do you throw normal rubbish?! So we just used to whip our bags in the big "Cardboard Only" dumpster and make a quick dash!

You have to sort your crap into the different bins for cardboard boxes, wine bottles, condiment bottles, pop (cooldrink) cans, beer cans, platic bottles less than a litre, plastic bottles more than a litre and fruit juice bottles.

So what do you do if you have 1.5 litre fruit juice bottle, wrapped in cardboard and made of glass?

Eventually after two months of living here, we figure out that this is where you throw your normal crap - the big green compacting machine. Throw your shit inside and close the door. And it compacts everything one time, pretty awesome!
