Boston - Halloween weekend...
Friday, November 03, 2006
After a huge night on Thursday at the halloween work function (post still in progress) we passed out early on Friday night and woke up to some shitty weather on Saturday. Rob and I decided to go visit Circuit City (best deals on electronics) and so we googled the closest one to us, but our map didnt extend that far, so we thought we would be able to find it anyway and we headed off for the T.
The T is the train system that is used in Boston (like the Underground in London) and is pretty great. For $1.25 you can jump on and go pretty much anywhere in Boston and its on time... too easy!
Here is a pic of Rob and I on the T (look closely). We call this photo "Reflections".
We took the last stop on our map and started to walk, it then started to rain, hard.
As if it wasn't bad enough already we only had 1 umbrella. Basically we ended up walking about 9 blocks in the rain, but we eventually reached it!
(If you want to check a bigger version of the pics below, they are all in my Picassa gallery, so just click the link to the gallery in the right hand task bar. Over.)
Rob ended up buying a laptop (Hp - very cool)and I was about to buy an ipod, but i didn't. We had to wait 1/2 hour for them to load the software onto Rob's laptop so we decided to go visit HOME DEPOT (its like a big Makro)!
As you can see we were bored, so we took a few photo's. Check out the gallery for some more.
After we were done at Home Depot we hit Bed, Bath and Beyond to finish off our nice little Saturday (Old School!).
We bought tickets for the Boston Bruins (yellow & black) against the Ottawa Senators (Canadian) ice hockey game at the TDBankNorth Gardens stadium which is about 10 minutes from our place on the T. This is the same stadium that the Boston Celtics (Basketball) play in, they just move the ice. Our tickets were near the back, but they were still awesome! It was such a great game.
There were about 5 fights during the game, at one stage 2 guys were just belting each other and the whole stadium, inlcuding the ref's were just watching. The stadium is awesome and it works perfectly, no lines (except for beer) and there are about 109 places to get food. The final score was 2-1 to the Bruins who haven't been doing well lately but due to the presence of us South Africans managed to scrape a win. In my next post I will post 2 videos of the final goal and of the game.
After the match we met up with Tom (from Boys High) and his girlfriend Mara. This was the beginning to a harmful partying relationship. We went to the Dockside Saloon for a drink or 2.
Things got out of hand after about 5 beers and 6 shooters bought for us by one of Tom's friend.
On the way home I stopped for a little power nap in the passage of our floor. Rob found me there and sent me to bed. Thanks Rob.
Both of us felt a little sorry for ourselves the next day.
We scraped through Sunday with the help of our friends Panado and Disprin, and decided to go have some dinner later that evening with Rob at ZUMA's in Quincy Market (just to feel more at home)... it had been a good weekend.
